28 Feb The 4 Stages Of Sleep And It’s Secrets
Sleeping is simple right? No. Sleeping is actually a science and an art. A lot of things can go wrong if you won’t be able to perform the proper sleeping regimes. Some of this problems could cause, illness, spiritual oddity, and even nightmares that could lead to death. If you want to avoid all of that then, i suggest that you pay close attention on our topic today. So, without further ado. Let us start.
Just like any activity, sleeping has it’s stages. You can’t progress without finishing stage 1, 2, 3 then 4. It’s physically impossible to skip the stages. No one can advance from stage 1 to 4 in a blink of an eye. In this article i’m going to briefly discuss the stages of sleep. And provide advice and lessons that i’m sure you will b able to apply in your lives.
The first level of sleep is the awake stage or NREM stage 1. In this stage you’ve just decided you wanted to sleep. Your eyes and mind maybe relaxed but, you’re still fully aware of your surroundings. You might experience hypnagogic hallucinations during this phase; you may see swirling lights and color in a distant ebony background in your subconsciousness. Also, in this stage some of us may experience hypnic jerk- the feeling of falling, sudden jerks. This stage usually lasts between 1-10 minutes.

The second level of sleep is the light sleep or NREM stage 2 during this stage, the sleeplessness kicks in. Your heart beats slower, your body temperature decreases and your brain emits larger neural waves. In a regular sleeping process you actually spend all you sleeping time in this stage- a dreamless stage.
For the third stage we have the deep sleep or also known as NREM stage 3. In this phase your mind is completely blank. Outside noises won’t bother you, unless it’s really loud. If by chance you’re awakened in this phase, you’ll simply feel confused, drowsy, not in your proper mind. I’m sure a lot of you have experience this situation wherein your awaken and after that you’re not aware of anything and just go back to sleep. This is usually when sleep walking and sleep talking occurs. because in this stage you are still mentally blank.
For the last stage, this one is called REM sleep or REM stage 4. You can only achieve this level of sleep if you have been asleep for more than 3 hours. This is also called “The dream sleep” as this is the phase where your mind creates different realities in your head.The reason why many people do not dream is because they get awaken between stages 1-3 a lot.That is when I hear many people say ” I cannot dream, now you know why. Same goes for bed wetting episodes. This stage is practically the longest and most memorable among the other stages. This is also when lucid dreaming can occur, as you are physically and mentally relaxed, your mind’s brainwaves are at it’s highest and you are more harder to wake up. But, beware in this stage. Nightmare can also happen. And if nightmares can happen, death by sleep is not far behind.
